Try not to

THIS YEAR I WILL TRY NOT TO was born out of frustration, complacency and laziness. Most designers are seduced by design trends. They’re easy to appropriate, and even easier to imitate. The challenge is to innovate. To be new. Elliott Scott and Christopher Doyle decided the best (and most enjoyable) approach was to identify and document the most common trends they felt they had to avoid. Before long they found themselves with a checklist of DON’Ts and a new aim: to try to be new. They may fail, but they will try.

Finding My North

So just love, make mistakes, and have wonderful times, but never second guess who you are, where you have been, and most importantly, where it is you are going.

Rosie and Me

I love Brazil and anything and everything connected to it. I saw this happy and fun music video of Brazilian band Rosie and Me . It brightened my day instantly when I watched it -- the bikes, props, and cinematography are beautiful. I've often wanted to play in those colorful powders -- have you? Have a peek and tell me what you think. Happy Saturday everyone!

Sri You!

I dream about going to Sri Lanka. It is one of the places in my bucket list.

Since Sri Lanka is now stable and safe(conflict primarily in the north). My dream itinerary will have me roaming the south for adventure (elephant safaris), history (colonial fort towns, old Buddhist temples), rain forests (and mountains and tea plantations), and gorgeous beaches.

They say ,for the best weather and the calmest seas, go between December and April.

Where to stay:

The Wallawwa

The Kandy House
the eight-room hotel that was once the 1800s home of a ruling family

Dilmah's Tea trail
a hotel of four colonial bungalows that used to house estate managers

Amanwella

Amangalla
*my pick ;)*

Unesco Heritage Sites to Visit:
Medieval Capital of Polonnaruwa

Golden Temple of Dambulla

Old Town of Galle
Royal City of Kandy
Ancient City of Sigiriya

More places to Visit:
Pinnawela Elepant Orphanage
Peradeniya Royal Botanic Gardens
Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic
Udawalawe National Park
Mirissa Hills

Taprobane Island

Xanadu

I'm looking forward to watching Xanadu later :)

Xanadu is a 90-minute musical comedy with a book by Douglas Carter Beane, music and lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar, based on the 1980 cult classic of the same name which was, in turn, inspired by the 1974 Rita Hayworth film Down to Earth.

The story of the whimsical and comic musical focuses on the Greek muse, Clio, who descends from Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest creation of his life - a roller disco. But when Clio, disguised as an Australian roller girl named Kira, falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation, and Clio risks eternal banishment to the underworld.

The musical opened on Broadway in 2007. It has earned an Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical and a Drama Desk Award for Best Book. It was nominated for Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Book.

Xanadu features songs made popular by Olivia Newton-John in the film of the same title, including MAGIC, SUDDENLY, SUSPENDED IN TIME, HAVE YOU EVER BEEN MELLOW, and the hit title track, XANADU.

With an abundance of pop songs from the 80's, a hilarious and light-hearted comic script, and some amazing roller skating, Xanadu is a hilarious, roller skating, musical adventure about following your dreams despite the limitations others set for you.

Xanadu is a hilarity on wheels for adults, children and anyone who has ever wanted to feel inspired, as one of Broadway's master storytellers, Douglas Carter Beane, weaves a moving, electrifying tale of endless fun that will keep you in stitches, while the original, legendary chart-topping tunes lift you out of your seat. You'll want to keep the music in your head, and Xanadu in your heart, forever.

Xanadu recently opened a US National Tour and will soon be opening productions in London West End and in Korea. The Philippine Production of Xanadu opens in 2010 and will be directed by Bobby Garcia. It will star theater and recording actress, Rachel Alejandro, who was also seen in Atlantis' RENT and AVENUE Q, as Clio/Kira; and the current golden boy of Philippine Theater, Felix Rivera from Atlantis' AVENUE Q and SPELLING BEE productions, as Sonny
